Technical Sales Representative

Job Title: Technical Sales Representative

Reports to: President

Department/Team: Sales


Position Purpose:

Increase sales by selling to existing customers, gaining new customers, and building awareness of Unicast in target industries.

Key Functions (Main aspects of position)

  • Develop and maintain rapport and relationships with current and potential customers
  • Provide excellent customer service including timely responses, accurate quotes, reliable information on products, and regular contact
  • Execute sales programs and strategies to increase sales
  • Efficiently manage territory, schedule and travel to meet objectives
  • Collect customer and market intelligence to enhance sales ability
  • Participate in sales planning meetings with sales team
  • Report monthly on sales targets and achievements
  • Produce field sketches of products from onsite measurement and conversations with customers
  • Inspect materials and hardness of materials in the field
  • Provide technical support as required
  • Handle other duties and assignments as requested


Requirements for Competency (Education, Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)

  • College degree in engineering technology or equivalent job experience
  • At least 4 years of outside sales experience ideally in the industrial, mining, aggregate, or civil construction industries
  • Familiarity with engineering concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret relevant documents such as product specifications, technical and procedure manuals, etc.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software
  • Strong presence and credibility
  • Strong oral and written communications skills including listening, negotiation, and selling skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
  • Ability to travel extensively including cross-border and potentially international
  • Excellent character, self-motivated and drive for results
  • Well-organized with the ability to set priorities and schedules and multitask
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
